Future Cars | Mercedes-Benz Presents Cyborg Cars

Future Cars
Ever imagine what kind of vehicles suitable for young children more adventurous in the next 2040 years? Mercedes-Benz tried to give its image, through the car cyborg?

Future cars this German manufacturer called Cyborg Sensation Vehicle (CSV), the work of the designer of China, Derek Chik Kin Ng.

Indeed this car is still far from production, Mercedes-Benz plans to pound the CSV-dealer dealership on 2040 next year, with the young adventurer segmentation targeting professionals, which of course filled with such dynamic designs.

Inspired by the concept of Mercedes-Benz F400, CSV is a very radical. Look at all four wheels, which even makes us wonder where is located the rubber round it.

Designers also wanted to give a sense of organic vehicles, so that the muscle fibers that flanked each side of the car, pinned neatly slipped into a hidden frame system.

The result is a design that takes the true adventurer DNA from a Mercedes-Benz evolution into an organic thing that could sped on the highway.

2010 Maybach Zeppelin

Mercedes-Benz' Maybach division, larger and more luxurious than anything from the Benz catalog, has the luxury and power to compete with the Rolls Royces of the world, but for one reason or another has not taken off sales-wise. A hard automotive economy has even hit cars that your standard everyman couldn't dream of affording, and Maybach's proposed solution has been... make our most powerful and expensive cars more powerful and more expensive.

The original Maybach Zeppelin line debuted in 1930. The Zeppelin of today, available as a complete package for both the 57 and 62 lines, adds a host of options and upgrades to a pair of cars with some of the most options and upgrades on the market.

Need a perfume atomizer that sprays the cabin ever so slightly with your choice of scents? No? Need a 640 horsepower AMG handbuilt twin turbo V12? Now we're talking.

Maybach says the 2010 Maybach 57 Zeppelin is meant to be owner-driven, while the longer and cushier 62 is designed to be chaueffered. Both have leather and wood everything inside with lambskin carpeting. Lambskin carpeting?

Does the world need the Zeppelin, a super-sedan with a base price equal to that of nearly 40 Honda Civics? Of course not. Maybach is betting that the exclusivity of a rich-man's car with a limited run of 100 units will boost sales, but while the Zeppelin certainly has its fair share of appealing features, Maybach may have trouble moving them.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

Want a recipe for a super-exciting four door sport sedan? Drop in a handbuilt AMG powerplant from your most expensive sports car into the otherwise-tame 4 door E-Class, boost the suspension and slow-down-and-stop, add some bling and call it a day. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG gets the same powerplant as AMG's own SL63, and on-road experience in the latter car shows this motor is truly breathtaking.

Say what you will about the new 2010 E-Class's styling, but in AMG trim the rather ordinary new E gets its chance to look good for the cameras, if you manage to catch one on the road going slowly enough to get a good look.

The E63 AMG is more than a new body and a big motor, and seems to have received the little touches that will allow it to finally compete with the best from BMW and Audi in the driving dynamics department. The E AMG no longer uses a torque converter psuedo-manual, canning that outdated technology in favor of a 7-speed automanual featuring a wet-sump clutch constantly submerged in an oil bath for smooth shifts and protection against wear.

The E63 suspension system is completely revised, with a new steel-springed strut setup up front and an AMG-specific air suspension out back, with all the expected launch and stability controls and other annoyances. Thankfully, the nannies can be sent home for the most part when the 2010 E63 AMG is put into sport mode.

Deliveries for the latest and greatest E-Class begin this August in Europe, with a US release date quick to follow in November 2009. Base price info has not yet been released, but expect something in the $70,000-$85,000 range.

Mercedes-Benz CL-Class AMG Convertible Conversion

With every passing year, there seems to be more convertibles on the market. But if you live in a sunny clime like California's, enough sunshine is never enough. That's where convertible chop-shops like Newport Convertible Engineering step in. The folks at NCE will take just about any automobile and turn it into a custom cabrio to a buyer's specifications. The company's portfolio includes recent conversions of a Dodge Challenger, Toyota Prius, Cadillac CTS, Hummer H2, Toyota FJ Cruiser, and this Mercedes-Benz CL AMG. Unfortunately, from the photos seen here, the soft top doesn't seem to collapse quite flush with the rear deck, leaving something to be desired in terms of aesthetics – to say nothing of rearward visibility. Here's hoping there's a snug-fitting cover lurking in whatever trunkspace remains.

Lorinser's Kit for the Mercedes-Benz SL

With the arrival of the new Mercedes-Benz SL, the usual suspects will update their body and tuning packages accordingly. Observers familiar with Lorinser's stuff know what to expect here, and in typical fashion, there's enough mesh grillework to allow for every conceivable cooling need, real or imagined. A large vertical vent replaces the "gills" that are standard on the current SL's front fender. There's also an opening in the side skirts ahead of the rear wheel, and a wide grille spanning the area between the exhausts, too. The whole affair sits on a lowered suspension, and big Lorinser alloys fill up the wheel wells. Power upgrades aren't ready yet, so for the time being, the kit's an all-show, same-go proposition. Image-conscious buyers will want to keep their original tri-star grille emblem handy, as that much plainer Lorinder badge isn't going to impress the neighbors nearly as much.

2011 AMG Gullwing

Mercedes-Benz and its performance divisions AMG and HWA are working on a host of new sports cars with a number of prototypes already spotted testing at both the Nurburgring and America’s Death Valley. Yesterday, spy images of a new Black Series version of the facelifted SL surfaced and last month images of another prototype dubbed the SLC turned up. We now have new renderings of a third Mercedes sports car said to be in development, a gull-winged coupe based on a shortened SL platform described as a spiritual successor to the original 300 SL.

Rumored to hit the streets in 2010 or 2011, the new car will feature an upgraded version of AMG’s hand-built 6.2L V8 with power levels in excess of 600hp. The car is being developed internally by Mercedes and AMG engineers and production numbers are expected to range between 3,000 and 5,000 units per year.

Although the gull-wing doors draw obvious styling cues from the original model from the 1950s, the new car won’t be shamelessly retro. As these renderings suggest, the car will feature a sleek, aerodynamic body, circular headlights and SLR-style side vents.

New Mercedes Benz sport Coupe

Story Source : GoAuto
By: David Hassall

MERCEDES-BENZ this week launched its new compact CLC-class Sports Coupe in Australia with a three-model range, all powered by the same 1.8-litre supercharged petrol engine and fitted with a standard five-speed automatic transmission.

Prices were announced in April and Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed that its new entry-level coupe will start at $49,900 for the CLC200 Kompressor, with the higher-spec CLC200 Kompressor Evolution priced $4000 higher at $53,900.

However, the proposed increase in the luxury car tax has forced a modest increase of $88 for the flagship Evolution+ version, which now carries an RRP of $58,988.

These prices are considerably lower than for the previous C-class Sports Coupe, which had a starting point of $52,290 for a less powerful C180K with a six-speed manual gearbox (that is now a no-cost option in Australia). The previous C200K was priced from $59,390, plus $3100 for the auto.

Although the CLC’s front-end styling suggests it is based on the new W204 C-class sedan that was launched last year, it is actually a development of the superseded C-class Sports Coupe that first appeared in 2001.

mercedes benz clc

However, Mercedes says some 1100 of the CLC’s components are newly designed, including an upgraded engine and interior, and a more responsive “direct-steer” system on the two upper-spec models.

Direct steer is based on the previous speed-sensitive power steering system but adds a variable steering rack ratio so that the steering wheel only has to be moved slightly when cornering. The company claims that the CLC therefore responds more quickly and improves handling and agility on winding country roads.

The wedge-shaped styling clearly links the C-class front end with a bulbous roofline sweeping down to an abbreviated tail, which features a spoiler built into the tailgate. The tail also features split tail-lights, a row of LED centre stop lights, a chrome tailgate handle and diffuser-look bumper.

Only one engine is offered from launch, the high-output version of the 1.8-litre four-cylinder supercharged unit that also featured in the previous line-up but which now produces 135kW of power (up 15kW) and 250Nm of torque (up 10Nm), providing a 0-100km/h sprint time of 8.6 seconds – 0.8 seconds faster than the previous C200K auto.

At the same time, the official fuel consumption figure is 8.4L/100km, a reduction of 0.6L/100km.

A new generation of infotainment systems has been introduced to the CLC, with two units that offer colour displays, a keypad for entering phone numbers or radio station frequencies and a DVD-based satellite-navigation system.

Mercedes’ famed ‘Linguatronic’ voice-operated control system for audio, sat-nav and phone is also available as an option. This was first introduced in 1996, when the system required only 512Kb of computing power, but the latest system requires more than 10MB.

Standard equipment on the base CLC includes sports seats with extra side support, automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, eight airbags (twin front, front and rear side-impact airbags, and rear ‘windowbags’ that extend from the A-pillar to the C-pillar), ABS brakes with brake assist, electronic traction and stability control, front and rear parking sensors, light-alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors, split-fold rear seats, headlamp assist and foglamps.

In addition, the CLC200 Kompressor Evolution has the ‘Direct Steer’ speed-sensitive power steering, bi-Xenon headlights with cornering function and headlight cleaning, 17-inch alloys, gearshift paddles, man-made ‘leather’ upholstery, dark-brushed aluminium-look trim highlights, aluminium-faced pedals, unique sports instrumentation cluster, black roof lining in fabric, black velour mats with silver-coloured edging, mesh inserts for engine cooling intakes and grille louvers finished in chrome and black combination.

The top-shelf CLC200 Kompressor Evolution+ adds a glass panoramic tilt/slide sunroof, multi-zone climate-control, electric front seats with memory, an electrically adjustable steering column and maple woodgrain trim.

The German marque claims that the previous Sports Coupe model was extremely successful in attracting new customers to the three-pointed star, with 70 per cent of the 320,000 sales since it was introduced in 2001 being first-time Benz buyers.

Furthermore, the company says that 43 per cent of those conquest buyers have since moved up into bigger Benz models and now drive more expensive E-class sedan or wagon, CLK coupe or cabriolet, or SLK roadster models.

The Black Ops: Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

This is the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series.
MB describes it as the 'exclusive high-performance coupe for the discerning motorist'. By 'discerning' we presume they mean 'totally and utterly crazy in the heed'.
The SL Black - the third Black series car after the SLK and sensational CLK - is based on the latest SL 65.

The 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine has been tweaked by AMG to 670bhp and 1000 Nm of torques - that's 737lb/ft in old money or 152lb/ft more than an SLR...
The standard SL 65 AMG has a measly 612bhp.

The SL Black also gets a chunky wide-arch bodykit, modified intake system, two trapezoidal tail pipes and a carbon roof. The SL's trick vario roof folding hardtop has been junked in favour of an integral roll cage.

Composite brakes are fitted, as are 20-inch alloys and a retractable boot spoiler. The Black is 250kg lighter than the SL 65 AMG.

0-62mph comes up in 3.9seconds and top speed is limited to 199mph - figures near identical to the SLR and all for $90,000 less than the bigger Mercedes.

Which begs the question, why spend the extra?

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren may be on its way out, but that doesn't mean there can't be more horsepower extracted from the supercar. The original had 617hp. Then came the SLR 722, which despite its name had 650 horses underhood. The 722's American importer, RENNtech, addressed the perception gap with its first package, boosting output to an eponymous 722hp. Never satisfied to leave well enough alone, RENNtech has now released its second package for the SLR 722 that further boosts power to 740 thanks to a revised ECU and a freer-flowing exhaust system.

While RENNtech's PKG1 went for a solid $12,900 (come on, what's a lousy $13k on the price of such a supercar?), the new PKG2 costs a heftier $26,990, plus an extra $7,800 for the optional Signature 10-spoke 20-inch rims, which can be had in chrome, satin-ceramic or "sniper gray" finishes. The SLR won't be leaving without a final swan song.

The 2008 Mercedes Benz C300

Engineered specifically for performance driving, the newly designed C300 Sport Sedan embodies seven years of automotive thinking. Now more aggressive than ever, its dramatic 17-inch 7-twin-spoke wheels and new athletic profile are just the beginning.

Restyling runs the full length and breadth of the vehicle — even to its underside, where superior aerodynamics work hand in hand with the new AGILITY CONTROL sport suspension that automatically senses and adjusts to different road conditions and driving styles.

An AMG front intake seizes air — and attention — as it channels brake-cooling wind to the wheels. The Mercedes-Benz star is positioned front and center.

Inside, dual-zone climate control and an 8-speaker radio/CD/MP3 sound system are models of easy-to-use simplicity. The multimedia interface, comprised of one central controller and a five-inch color display, can be hidden when not in use.

Kicherer CLK 63 AMG Black Edition

The prevailing notion that sports cars are just a pleasure for two was now contradicted by Kicherer.

The renowned Mercedes embellishing specialists from Stockach have enriched the CLK 63 AMG, which is actually a two-seater, with a sporty back seat.

When you take the north loop in less than 8 minutes with this bolide, all those seats will definitely provide more fun – and adrenaline – than any rollercoaster.

And what is more, those additional seats guarantee a Black Edition with a significantly improved road capability.

But, Kicherer will even delight design and sports enthusiasts.

The radiator grill, already quite impressive on the standard version, is replaced by an even sportier variant made of carbon and featuring carbon fibre struts.

The beautiful forged three-part wheel, Kicherer RS-1, also fulfils a double function as it is a visual and – thanks to weight reduction – also a sportive gain.

The chassis – specially developed for Kicherer by DTM specialist H&R – also improves the racer’s cornering dynamics by several degrees. Since the Kicherer engineers have taken care of the engine, too, they have further underlined their reinterpretation by carbon mirror shells.

With its 540 hp, the Kicherer CLK racer gained about 33 hp. Even the torque has been improved by another 20 Nm.

Thus equipped, the Kicherer CLK only needs 4.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and runs faster than 300 km/h – thanks to a derestricted V/max.

In order to delight any fellow passenger’s vision, Kicherer has equipped the car with additional carbon intarsia.

These do not only include – as is usually the case – parts of the centre console and of the door linings, but also ultra-light front seat buckets made of genuine carbon.

Therefore, even at a red light, the “normal” Black Edition becomes a Kicherer Racer.
