Midsize SUV’s are practical for their compact size and spaciousness and the 2011 Honda Pilot definitely fits the bill. This vehicle has enough room to seat eight persons plus it offers a ton of storage space. The shape of the Pilot is square on the front end and some reviewers have noted that its looks and stance resembles that of a truck. The aggressive appearance is bolstered further by wheels measuring seventeen inches. This SUV was designed to be practical in everyday life; the tailgate with a lift-up glass hatch makes unloading cargo super easy. The Pilot is also capable of towing, it comes with a standard Class III trailer hitch and is capable of towing 4,500 pounds. There are four trim levels available: the LX, EX, EX-L and top of the line Touring.
The engine isn’t as powerful as that of some of its competitor but it’s more than enough for every day usage. The engine contains six cylinders and outputs 250 hp and 253 lb feet of torque. Gas mileage stands at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the freeway. It’s equipped with Variable Cylinder Management, which enables the vehicle to run on a lesser number of cylinders and as a result it’s quite good on gas.
